E-LEARNING Course
What’s Involved?
This website gives free access to a comprehensive foundation course which provides essential skills to enhance family focused practice. It consists of 8 integrated modules forming a sequential learning pathway, which progresses from background theory and context to practical use and application of The Family Model. There is video footage (subtitled) together with audio content, tips, tools, techniques and reflective practice questions. Doing all the modules will provide you with the skills and expertise to use the ‘A5 card’ version to undertake a single session, family focused conversation with a family member. There is no cost involved. As this is part of an ongoing research and refinement programme to improve uptake, use and implementation of TFM we value feedback from everyone who participates.
The programme was developed as a partnership involving clinicians, content experts and those with lived experience, managers and researchers, from Norway, Northern Ireland, England and Australia. The course content was also enhanced by comments and feedback from clinicians and service users in Australia, Northern Ireland and Norway. Kirsten Kearney and the ESC team did the filming and editing with skill, grace and good humour. There are many unnamed family members, clinicians, managers, students and others who have used TFM over the years, all of whom have helped to shape its development and use. The course was launched in May this year at an international conference in Belfast, hosted by the Northern Ireland Health & Social Care Board and Queens University Belfast.
